The Lisbon Aqueduct (The Aqueduto das Águas Livres) is a masterpiece of 18th century engineering. Lisbon suffered from a shortage of drinking water, and King John V decided to lay a pipeline with a total complexity of 58 km. The aqueduct was not damaged during the Lisbon earthquake in 1755 and served until 1968. Now it is a national monument, with a unique opportunity to walk along the upper tier within the framework of the Water Museum.
