The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum is one of the greatest museums in Portugal, founded after the death of the collector Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian (1869-1955). Gulbenkian's collection is extremely large, and it can be divided into groups of paintings, sculptures, decorative art, jewelry and other exhibits.
The museum is divided into two routes: the first is oriental and classical art with objects of Egyptian, Greco—Roman, Eastern Islamic, Armenian and Far Eastern culture, the second route is European art with special collections dedicated to the art of books, sculpture, painting and decorative arts.
