The Carmo Archaeological Museum (Museu Arqueológico do Carmo) is the first archaeological museum in Lisbon. It was founded in 1864 on the site of the destroyed the Carmo Convent. The main concept of the museum is the protection of national heritage and the exposition of collected historical artifacts. The museum's collection has been expanding for many years. One of the unique exhibits of the museum is two mummies.
