About the palace

View of Dolmabahce Palace

The palace was built in 1856. The total area of the main building of the palace is 14,595 m², which makes it the largest palace in Turkey. The palace has 285 rooms, 44 halls, 68 toilets and 6 Turkish baths. The territories of the gardens and courtyards are 45,000 m².

Museum

It now functions as a museum and is divided into two parts. Both parts are open to the public:

Selamlyk (Selamlık)

The official part, where state affairs were conducted and receptions were held.

Harem

A private area where the rulers and their families lived.

Since 2014, the National Museum of Painting with an extensive collection of paintings by Ivan Aivazovsky has been operating on the territory of the Dolmabahce Palace.

Working hours

Every day except Monday from 09:00 to 18:30. The museum's ticket offices are open until 17:30.

Ticket prices

Selamlyk + Harem + Museum of Painting (valid for a week) - 1050 TL. An audio guide secured by a passport is issued free of charge.

If you have a Museumcard, the entrance to Semalyk is 90 TL, the entrance to the Museum of Painting is free.

Children under 6 years old can take the course for free.
