The Grand Bazaar is one of the oldest and largest markets in the world. Its history begins in 1453, when Sultan Mehmed II conquered Constantinople.
On a total area of 30,700 m², there are more than 4,000 shops and shops both inside the buildings and on 66 streets around it, selling leather, textiles, ceramics, wood products and souvenirs.

Cafes, restaurants, residential premises and mosques are located on the territory of the bazaar. The oldest buildings of the market are the Old Bedestan (Sahaflar Bedesteni) and Sandal Bedestan (Sandal Bedesteni).
