The Orthodox Cathedral of St. Simeon and St Anna in Jelgava belongs to the Riga Deanery of the Riga Diocese of the Latvian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, was built in 1890-1892 with the financial support of the Russian Tsar Alexander III.

The altar and the foundation remain from the previous church, which was built in 1774. The cathedral was severely damaged during the Second World War, as well as during the Soviet era. When Latvia regained its independence, the church was returned to the Orthodox community, and reconstruction was carried out (1993-2003). There are nine bells in the bell tower, the largest bell weighs 830 kg.
