The tomb of the Dukes of Courland in the Rundale Palace (the summer residence of the Jelgava Palace) or as it is also called the Family Vault of the Dukes of Courland. It is the largest burial site of its kind in Latvia and one of the few graves of the dynasties of governors in the world that is open to the public.
The tomb of the Dukes of Courland is located in the building of the Jelgava Palace. The Duke's tombs date back to 1582. Currently, there are 21 metal sarcophagi and nine wooden coffins containing the remains of 24 members of the Kettler dynasty and six representatives of the Biron dynasty.
Restored costumes are displayed next to the grave, and you can also find additional information about the people buried there.
