The White Bridge is a pedestrian bridge in Kutaisi across the Rioni River. One of the main attractions of the city, built in the XIX century.
The White Bridge
The first bridge was built in 1852, but it lasted only a few years. It is believed that the new bridge was designed and built in Paris, and installed in its place in 1872. It got its name in honor of the white-painted lanterns and railings, which harmoniously fit into the landscape of white stones along the river.
The White Bridge
Metal plates made of Corten steel with transparent glass inserts as flooring appeared only a few years ago. Since its foundation, the flooring has been made of wood.
The Picasso Boy
"Ambreduso — Meduso" — it was with this phrase that the boy jumped from the White Bridge with two hats in his hands in the film Eldar Shengelaya "An extraordinary exhibition". In memory of this moment, a bronze sculpture of a boy was created, who, as in the film, was named "The Picasso Boy". Now the sculpture can be called an integral part of it, which is customary to be photographed.
