The Opera and Ballet Theatre (ქუთაისის ოპერის და ბალეტის თეატრი) is a cultural institution of Kutaisi named after Meliton Balanchivadze. He played an important role in Georgian culture and development of the country. The theater was opened in 1969 as a branch of the Tbilisi Theater, and now it is an independent cultural center, which hosts various performances, performances by a symphony orchestra, music festivals and other cultural events.

There are thirteen Roman figures by sculptor Georgy Kikvadze on the roof. In 2010, the interior was renovated and the facades were rethought.
