Freedom Square is the main square of Tbilisi. Previously it was called the "Caravanserai" (gate to the city), in Soviet times it was called Beria Square, then Lenin Square. It acquired its current name in 2006.

There is a 35-meter Monument in the center of the square Freedom made of granite and gold, which depicts St. George slaying a dragon. The statue symbolizes the freedom and independence of Georgia, and its author is the famous Georgian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli. The official opening of the monument took place in 2006.
