The Koknese Evangelical Lutheran Church was built in 1687. During the war, the church was destroyed, subsequently underwent restoration work, and in 1731 services began to take place in the church again. In 1819, the church was renovated.

In 1929, the restored church was consecrated. The church altar painting was also restored, and in 1930 an 830-kilogram steel bell was installed and consecrated, which remains there to this day.
Ernst Johann Gluck, who was the first translator of the Bible into Latvian, served as a priest here.
