The Sakhalin International Chekhov Theater Center (Chekhov Center) is a theatrical and cultural complex and the only drama theater in the Sakhalin Region.
The theater was founded in 1930 in Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinsky, where the first professional theater of Sakhalin was formed. In 1947, he moved to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, where he works to this day, presenting performances based on classical and modern works of drama.

The Chekhov Center pays special attention to the issues of attracting children and adolescents to theatrical art. The theater troupe is undergoing training and retraining at the best theatrical universities in the country, and directors, artists, lighting designers from leading theaters in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk take part in the preparation of productions.
