A small, quiet and completely atypical temple for Thailand with a monochrome facade is located in Krabi Town. This is the White Temple of Wat Kaew Korawaram, a favorite place of local residents and a few tourists.
The temple is relatively young, and for a short time of its existence it has become popular among the local population – Thais come here with their families to perform religious rituals and walks. The elegant, seasoned decor of the White Wat Kaew Korawaram Temple is a traditional place for wedding photo shoots.
Wat Kaew Korawaram
The construction of the White Wat Kau Temple in Krabi began with the formation of a monastic settlement in 1887. One of the monks treated fever and malaria among the locals, and they built a residence in gratitude. This is how a place for religious activity appeared, referred to as the "Residence of the Pak Nam monk", in some guidebooks this temple is called Wat Kaeo Ko Wararam (Pak Nam).
The number of monks increased, and new buildings were erected in the temple complex. The buildings that appeared today are used to accommodate pilgrims at Wat Kaew Temple Krabi.
Wat Kaew Korawaram
The White Kaew Temple became the educational center of Buddhism, and the teaching began to spread to other areas. Anyone can get acquainted with the detailed history of the Temple's creation by going down the stairs leading to the basement of the Wat Kaeo Korawaram temple, they also introduce the basics of Buddhism and open courses for parishioners.
According to the architects' idea, the White Krabi Temple is decorated from the inside with frescoes from the life story of the Buddha. A golden statue of a seated Buddha stands in the main hall of Wat Kaew Temple.
