South of the Thai islands of Phuket and Phi Phi in the open sea are the underwater coral reefs Hin Daeng — Red stone and Hin Muang — Purple stone. These places are not for beginners, the reward for diving can be incredible encounters with giant stingrays and whale sharks.
A giant ramp
The Hin Daeng and Hin Muang diving spots are considered to be among the best dive sites in the whole world and possibly the best places in all of Thailand. These coral reefs are known for whale sharks and giant stingrays.
Diving site Hin Daeng, Thailand
Hin Daeng is located 100 km southeast of Phuket and is a large underwater formation with rocky islets on the surface. This impression is deceptive, since Hin Deng is a huge dive site with a depth that goes beyond the edge of amateur diving. Hin Daeng Reef goes to a depth of about 60 meters, forming a steep cliff covered with rare corals.
Diving in the Hin Daeng area, you should be extremely careful, strong currents often occur in this area, and you also need to monitor the depth of the dive. Hin Daeng is not a place for beginners in diving, at least you need to have an AOWD license or more than 20 dives.
