Monte Palace Hotel Ruins (Miradouro da Vista do Rei) are the ruins of an abandoned hotel that was built in 1989. The five-star hotel worked for a little over a year and was soon closed due to insufficient flow of visitors. The unofficial attraction is very popular among tourists because of its apocalyptic appearance. Inside, you can find 80 rooms with panoramic balconies overlooking the Lagoon of the seven cities . The outside of the hotel is overgrown with plants and decorated with graffiti, which made it one of the most photographed places on the island of San Miguel.
