The Lagoon of Seven Cities

Photos and videos

Lagoon of the Seven Cities (Canal das Sete Cidades) is a lake in the crater of an ancient extinct volcano. The lagoon is the largest body of water on the island of San Miguel and one of the most important freshwater resources. Two reservoirs — the blue lake (Lagoa Verde) and the green lake (Lagoa Azul) — are separated by a bridge that leads to the city of Sete Cidades.
