The Holy Trinity Cathedral or Tsminda Sameba is a symbol of national and spiritual rebirth. The third tallest Orthodox cathedral in the world, the construction of which was timed to coincide with the 2000th anniversary of Christianity and the 1500th anniversary of the autocephaly of the Georgian Orthodox Church. The consecration of the cathedral took place on St. George's Day — November 23, 2004.
Tsminda Sameba is visible from almost anywhere in the city due to its location on Elia Hill on the left bank of the Kura River (Mtkvari). On the territory of the Sameba complex, in addition to the cathedral, there is a free-standing bell tower, the residence of the Patriarch, a monastery, a theological seminary and workshops.
