The Höfði House is an ancient mansion located on the Reykjavik waterfront. It was built in 1909 and was originally the residence of the French consul.
It was here in 1986 that the leaders of the USSR and the United States, Mikhail Gorbachev and Ronald Reagan, met in order to end the Cold War and take the first step towards disarmament. There were many famous guests at the Havdi House, Sir Winston Churchill, who stayed here during his visit to Iceland in 1941, Marlene Dietrich during World War II and many others.
