The National Gallery of Iceland (Listasafn Íslands) owns more than 15,000 works of art that showcase the best examples of Icelandic art and culture. The main focus of the collection is on Icelandic art of the XX–XXI centuries, but also presents works by international authors. The museum owns the most valuable collection of works in the country and regularly holds exhibitions. The gallery is located in the center of Reykjavik and is divided into two buildings: the National Gallery and the House of Collections.

The House of Collections is the newest addition to the National Gallery of Iceland. Originally built in 1908 to house the National Library, the National Archives, the collection of the Museum of Natural History of Iceland and the National Collection of antique relics, today it presents the exhibition "Resistance", which presents the treasures of the collection of the National Gallery of Iceland.
