The Church of Saint Francis (Igreja de São Francisco) is a Gothic—style Catholic church built in the 15th century. The interior is decorated with carved panels covered with a layer of gold leaf, which is why it is known as the "Golden Church", which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
