First impressions of Baku

On the eve of New Year's it's impossible to resist the desire to travel to a completely new place and chart a new course. To make the experience even more thrilling, you can use a little trick - you don't research the location beforehand and get to experience the new place for the first time. That's how I like to approach a new place and it's these experiences that I will tell you about later...

Tickets to Baku with departure on New Year’s Eve were bought on December 30. The final tipping point in the decision was the weather forecast – sunny and +15 all New Year’s holidays.

Airport

The theater begins with a hanger, and impressions of a new city or country start at the airport.

On one hand, there is advertisement, on the other, you immediately know where the bank is.

Heydar Aliyev International Airport is not big, but very nice and modern. I later found out that it is actually one of the best airports in the world.

Modern architecture, neatness and absolute cleanliness.

Baku Taxi

From the airport, new English Cabs are running. I definitely did not expect to see these cars here. These are truly very convenient modern electric cars that are maximally comfortable for passengers.

Where the ideas of the headlights are taken from is read instantly

Looking ahead, there are familiar cars in taxis in the city. These same cabs mostly take passengers from the Airport to the city. They cost a bit more than other services.

In the city old Cabbies can be found.

Architecture

The most incredible impression is caused by architecture. Yes, there are many modern buildings, but everything looks harmoniously, as if these buildings were hundreds of years old.

Against the backdrop of modern skyscrapers, which are called the 'Flaming Towers' - the main symbol of Baku.

The house of Isa bey Hajinsky in the Gothic style was built in 1912.

In the city there are a lot of 'Stalin's skyscrapers', but they are modified to fit the local style.

It is new construction, but has been seamlessly integrated with the existing structure. In 10 years it will be difficult to distinguish it from the old building.

The City Hall of Baku in Baroque Style - 1904

The main boulevard of the city, where all kinds of boutiques can be found. The appropriate name of this boulevard is Nevtianikov Prospect (translation - The Oil Workers Prospect).

It is difficult to express in words the delight evoked by the architecture of this city.

The Ismaili Building of 1913, now home to the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences.

The building was partially destroyed in 1918, but was restored in 1923.

Pay attention to the details

In the evening all the facades in the city center and main avenues, including illumination, are turned on.

Sea and Promenade

The central part of the city is located directly on the embankment, which is a ten kilometer stretch of Primorsky Boulevard. The perfect distance for a long run. I will tell you more about the embankment in the next publication.

Oh, you are very brave that you went without reviews! I won't read it yet-I won't budge, but what if I don't like it? People don't just write them.

There is nothing more pleasant than your own impression. Reviews are a useful thing when buying a product, but definitely not when traveling
