The name piqued our interest, so we decided to go and check it out. If you're a fan of ruins and derelict places, then this is the place for you. You won't feel like an adventurer plundering tombs, but all the ruins have a greater purpose - to remind us of what came before.

The name of the village of Loo comes from the name of the largest Abkhazian feudal family, the Lau or Lou (Loov) who ruled over these territories at the peak of the Abkhazian Kingdom.

The Byzantine Temple is the main attraction of Loo. It is a monument of medieval architecture, a cultural heritage object.
