The EC eliminates borders with Croatia.

The interior ministers of European countries have approved Croatia's membership in the Schengen Area without borders. Border posts with Slovenia and Hungary will be eliminated from January 1, 2023.

The main question is whether Croatian visas will be valid in 2023. There is no official statement from the Croatian consulate yet, but it can be said with certainty that Croatian visas will not be valid from January 1, 2023. The reason is that the removal of border posts in the EU presupposes a unified standard for border control with third states, as well as a unified approach to the criminal justice system. The absence of borders with other EU countries implies the validity of a single visa.

In addition to the question of opening the borders with Croatia, the representatives of the EU countries were discussing the issues of opening the borders with Romania and Bulgaria, however, despite the compliance of all the requirements by the countries, the Netherlands blocked the decision for Bulgaria, and Austria - for Romania.

Throughout the year countries will need to step up border security and also give more attention to the work of the police.
