The Witch's Bridge on Sakhalin

The Witch's Bridge
The Witch's Bridge

The Witch Bridge is an abandoned bridge built by the Japanese in 1928 during the Karafuto Prefecture period. It was operated until 1994 as part of the Nikolaichuk—Kamyshevo-Sakhalinskoye railway. Due to a forest fire that occurred in 2007, the bridge changed color to red, which, surrounded by plants sprouting through cracks in the concrete, creates an apocalyptic atmosphere.

This is the second bridge, after the Devil's Bridge. Actually, by the time we got there, I already wanted to go back. But we decided – once we arrived, we need to walk. In general, I liked the bridge even more than the Damn one. But the complete silence, the absence of people and the nets with the rustle of leaves were a little annoying.
