The Swords in Stone Monument (Sverd i fjell) is a memorial monument built in 1983 in honor of the Battle of Hafrsfjord, which took place around 872, as a result of which Harald I the Fair—Haired became the first king of Norway. The three swords with three crowns symbolize the three main regions of Norway: southwest, north and southeast.
