The Ventspils Open-air Museum (Ventspils Brīvdabas Muzejs) is mainly dedicated to the history of fishing. Here you can get acquainted with the traditions and methods of fishing in Latvia since ancient times. The museum's exposition includes more than 24 thousand exhibits placed in the open air among wooden buildings and landscaped grounds.

On the territory of four hectares, you can get acquainted with the culture and historical heritage of fishermen, visually trace the evolution of fishing boats. The exhibition presents the fishing yards of the ventines and livs, the house of the Latvian peasant "Smiltnieki", built at the end of the XIX century, windmills, a Riga, a barn, old huts, a blacksmith shop, a smokehouse, a shed for nets and other ethnographic buildings.

Another attraction of the open—air museum is a train for a 600 mm gauge railway. This railway was laid by German soldiers during the First World War to connect Ventspils with fishing villages. Two locomotives run along the 1.4 km long ring line, as well as along the mountain route leading to the Ventspils Adventure Park.
An Anchor Trail has been created in the Seaside Park from the largest anchors, exhibits of the Seaside Open-air Museum. At the entrance to the park there is the largest anchor, it weighs 23 tons, and its height is 6 m.
