Pattaya Districts

Pattaya, located between the coast of the Gulf of Thailand and Sukhumvit Road, is divided into 3 districts, each of which has a unique specificity: North Pattaya (Naklua) is the most expensive and clean area, Central Pattaya is the best area for shopping, Thai exotics and round–the–clock entertainment, and South Pattaya (Pratamnak) which is suitable for a quiet family holiday.

North Pattaya

North Pattaya is considered a respectable area due to its excellent tourist infrastructure and a large number of expensive housing. The Wongamat neighborhood with a beach is considered the cleanest on the coast.

Central Pattaya

Central Pattaya is the place of the greatest concentration of tourists and locals. Here is the most popular street in Pattaya – Volkin Street (Walking Street). And the largest and noisiest beach of the resort is Pattaya Beach. A lot of shops, bars, cafes, massage parlors, inexpensive housing make Central Pattaya very lively and noisy.

South Pattaya

South Pattaya includes the neighborhoods of Pratamnak and Jomtien, these are quiet and peaceful areas with beaches suitable for family holidays. Housing in South Pattaya is more expensive than in Central Pattaya, and the beaches are much cleaner.

Pattaya Islands

All the islands near Pattaya can be divided into near and far. Geographically distant ones do not belong to Pattaya, but most excursions go there from Pattaya. Nearby islands: Koh Lan, Koh Sichang, Koh Krok, Koh Sak, Koh Phai, Koh Kham. Distant islands: Ko Samet, Ko Chang, Ko Kood, Ko Mak, Ko Wai, Ko Pet

Koh Lan Island is located 11 km from Pattaya, it is the most popular island, which can be reached by ferry or boat. There are two piers on the island, several beaches, shops, cafes, mini-hotels, bike rental.

Koh Sak Island is 10 km from Pattaya. You can get to it by boat, here you usually go snorkeling, sunbathing and swimming.

Koh Krok Island is located 8 km from Pattaya. It is suitable for those who want to admire coral reefs and scuba dive.

Koh Sichang Island is the largest island 30 km from Pattaya, with an area of 17 km2. It is a traditional holiday destination for locals and tourists. You can rent a house on the island and stay for a few days. Activities include kayaking, mountain biking, diving, snorkeling, fishing, hiking and sightseeing.

Koh Phai Island and its satellites, located 23 km from Pattaya, have still preserved an atmosphere of untouchability. There is clear water and white sand, you can go diving, snorkeling, fishing, sunbathing and swimming.

The emerald island of Koh Kham is located 35 km from Pattaya on the territory of the Thai naval base – it is an uninhabited island with turquoise water and a coral lagoon. Here you can go kayaking, scuba diving or relax in hammocks stretched between the trees.

The Temple of Truth in Pattaya

There are many Buddhist temples in Pattaya: the Temple of Truth (Wat Prasat), made of wood without a single nail, Wat Sattahip Temple, the complex of religious monuments Big Buddha Hill, the Temple of the Golden Buddha (Wat Phra Kha Yai), Wat Chai Mongkhon (Wat Chai Mongkhon). Two churches of the Russian Orthodox Church have been opened for Orthodox Christians in Pattaya: the Church of All Saints in Pattaya and the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Pattaya.

In addition to religious attractions, you can visit Mini Siam Miniature Park, Pattaya Bottle Museum, Nong Nooch Tropical Park and Orchid Garden, Elephant Village, Kao Keo Zoo, crocodile farm, Sriracha Tiger Zoo, as well as have fun at Cartoon Network Amazone water parks and the Ramayana.

Russians Russians are famous for their round–the-clock restlessness, and one of the night entertainment here is visiting night markets: Teprazit is open from Friday to Sunday from 18:00 to 22:00, Pratamnak, located in the "Russian district", open from 18:00 to 22:00 daily, many sellers speak Russian here, Walking The street is open daily from 19:00 to 02:00, Ratanakorn is a night market near the Colosseum, as well as Jomtien and Ambassador.

In addition to markets, a lot of night entertainment is available in the city: discos, cafes and bars, restaurants, and guests of 18+ will find here a huge number of specific show programs in places popularly called "Go-go".

Who is suitable for Pattaya

Pattaya is a small and very lively city. Basically, Pattaya is chosen by young people who lead an active lifestyle, for whom beach holidays are not in the first place. Couples with children can also find a place to relax here, but it should be carefully chosen taking into account local specifics.

When is the best time to relax in Pattaya

Summer in Thailand lasts all year round. The conditional "peak season" falls during the winter months. The rainy season in Pattaya lasts from June to the end of October, the peak of rains falls in September – October. You should know that in high season prices here "soar" several times.

Pattaya Beaches

All beaches in Thailand are municipal. A common feature of all urban Pattaya beaches is muddy water. The sea is muddy here, tourists note the pollution of the beaches, which is explained by the large number of vacationers. If you are looking for a good beach holiday in Pattaya, it is better to go to the nearby islands: there are fewer tourists there, and the water is much cleaner and more transparent.

Pattaya Beach is the most popular and crowded beach in the city with a lot of water activities. It is located next to Walking Street, the main place of resort hangouts.

Jomtien Beach is located in the Jomtien neighborhood and is in demand among family tourists with children. It is much quieter and quieter here than in the center.

Cozy Beach is located at the foot of Pratamnak Hill in a picturesque lagoon. This beach offers a beautiful view of Ko Lan Island.

Naklua Beach is located in the area of the same name in the north of Pattaya. The beach is divided by a cape into Crescent Moon Beach (Hat Wong Phrachan) and Palm Beach (Palm Beach).

Dongtan Beach is relatively clean compared to other beaches in South Pattaya. Representatives of sexual minorities mainly rest on Dongtan, so it is not reasonable to offer it as a traditional one.

Wong Amat Beach is one of the few white sand beaches in Pattaya. Wongamat Beach offers a beautiful view of Ko Lan and other islands of the Gulf of Thailand.

Pratamnak Beach is considered one of the best beaches in Pattaya, it is recommended to choose it for families with children.

Also in Pattaya, you can relax on the beaches of Ta Yai, Sattahip, Ban Ampur Beach, Bang Sarai.

How to get to Pattaya

Pattaya is 120 km from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. You can get from Bangkok by any type of transport: bus, car, taxi, ferry. Pattaya has its own airport, U-Tapao, specializing in domestic flights, in high season charters from Russia, Astana and Alma-Ata can land here. There are no buses as such in Pattaya itself, they are replaced by songteo (covered minibus pickups), tuk–tuks, motorbikes, taxis, bicycles are available from other transport.

Prices in Pattaya

It is generally believed that the prices of food, clothing and entertainment in Pattaya are among the lowest among the tourist destinations in Thailand. The cost of a holiday in Pattaya depends on the season, sometimes increasing several times during peak months. Inexpensive fresh fruits and vegetables, seafood and meat can be purchased at numerous markets, and local street food is also not expensive. It will be slightly more expensive to eat in restaurants and cafes due to the appropriate service. Prices for excursions, entertainment and services depend on the season.
