One of the oldest churches in Moscow, located in its very center between Tverskaya and Nikitskaya streets. This is one of the rare temples that has retained a historical toponymic clarification in its name "on the Assumption Vrazhka".
The first mention of the temple dates back as far as 1531. It was rebuilt several times, and in its current form it has existed since 1860. The temple survived the difficult Soviet period, when in 1924 it was turned into workshops, apartments, and a long-distance telephone exchange. Over the years, the heads of the temple, bell towers, sculptural decoration, decor, interior decoration and all church property were lost.
The temple was returned to the faithful only in 1998.
