About the fortress

The Kremlin is located in the geographical center of Moscow. It was built between the Moskva River and the buried Neglinka.

The fortress was destroyed and rebuilt many times, and protected the inhabitants of Moscow in dozens of wars and disasters. The Kremlin received its current appearance at the end of the 15th century.

Before the transfer of the capital to St. Petersburg, it was the center of state power.

Now the Kremlin houses museums, the Kremlin Palace, ancient cathedrals and the residence of the President of the Russian Federation.

The Moscow Kremlin has 20 towers and 4 gates. The height of the walls ranges from 5 to 19 meters.
