Me Sai (or Mae Sai, eng. Mae Sai is a small town on the border of Thailand and Myanmar, in Chiang Rai Province. Me Sai got its name from the river on one of the banks of which it is located.
The city of Mae Sai is little known to tourists, except that it is here that the highway leading from Bangkok to the north of Thailand ends. Mae Sai has always been a transit point of trade and a checkpoint between the two countries and is still famous for its large market of goods.
Nevertheless, the places here are quite picturesque and the curious tourist will always have something to see.

Mae Sai is located in the north of Chiang Rai Province. The main highway No. 1 runs from Bangkok to the border with Myanmar, so it will be quite easy to get to Me Sai.
It takes 1.5 hours by bus from Chiang Rai to Mai Sai. From Chiang Mai – 4 hours. Buses stop at the bus station, and from there you can take Song theo to the market and the border with Burma.
The fastest and most comfortable way to travel in Thailand is to rent a car. Follow the Highway No. 1 by car. On the stretch from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai, be careful – the road is full of serpentines.
A trip around Thailand on a motorbike will require certain skills and abilities. The option to get to Me Sai in this way is possible, but it may seem quite difficult for inexperienced drivers: the road is full of sharp turns and mountain passes.

If you have a visa to Myanmar, which can be obtained at home, as well as in Moscow, Bangkok and other capitals, traveling across the border will not be difficult.
With an open visa, you can visit the cities of Myanmar Tachilek and Kengtung in Myanmar, these cities have airports connecting this area of Myanmar with the larger cities of Mandalay and Yangon.
