The Kizil Kule Tower is one of the most brightest sights of Alanya. Its image adorns the city's coat of arms. The Tower is one of the surviving examples of Seljuk architecture from the 13th century.
The tower was built by the order of Sultan Ala ad-Din Key-Kubad I and served as a defensive structure to protect the city's sea port. The city of Alanya (Alaiye) became the seljuk empire's sea gates.
The tower takes its name from the red bricks that lined its facade. Originally, the tower was named the Key-Kubad tower.
