Grotta is a nature reserve at the tip of the Seltjarnarnes Peninsula, where the lighthouse has been located since 1897.
In 1947, the lighthouse was rebuilt, and then in 1956 it was connected to electricity. The lighthouse is still functioning.

You can climb up to the lighthouse and enjoy incredible views of Seltjarnarnes and its surroundings from the observation deck
By the way, the surroundings of the Grotta Lighthouse are a protected area, many rare bird species live here. To protect nature and preserve the natural environment, the lighthouse is completely closed to visitors from May to July.
