One of Iceland's most iconic natural treasures, located 50 km east of Akureyri. The name Godafoss (Goðafoss) means "waterfall of the gods" or "waterfall of Godi", the reason for this name, according to legend, is that the legislator of the Parliament of Iceland threw his pagan idols into this waterfall when the country adopted Christianity in 1000 AD, calling it "Waterfall of the Gods".
