Fjallabak Nature Reserve (Friðland að Fjallabaki) is an area in the Icelandic Highlands, a popular hiking destination. The territory has been protected since 1979.
Fjallabak Nature Reserve
The entire area is characterized by colorful mountains, geothermal valleys and volcanic activity. The color is due to the fact that rhyolite and obsidian give the earth green, blue, pink, red and yellow shades. Lava fields, rivers and lakes also leave their mark on this nature reserve.
