The State Museum of Theater, Music, Cinema and Choreography of Georgia (The Art Palace of Georgia) is located in a unique building by architect Paul Stern, built at the junction of Gothic and Islamic architecture styles for Emilia Titel. In 1882, the Duke of Oldenburg (the great-grandson of the Russian Emperor Paul I) bought this palace for his beloved Agrippina Japaridze, and since 1927, the David Arsenishvili Theater Museum has been located in the building.
The exposition of the Art Palace of Georgia
Over the century, the museum has accumulated an incredible collection of exhibits and artifacts revealing Georgian art. Here you can find works of art, theater, cinema, circus, opera, ballet and traditional folklore. Unique manuscripts of outstanding personalities: Galaktion Tabidze, Titsian Tabidze, Ioseb Grishashvili, Ivane Machabeli, Akaki Vasadze, Mikheil Chiaureli, Pyotr Tchaikokovsky, Feodor Chaliapin, Dmitri Shostakovich and many others.
Georgia has always been at the crossroads of cultures, absorbing the best. The museum features works by Russian, Armenian, Azeri and European artists, including works by Konstantin Korovin, Lev Bakst, Alexander Benua, Alexander Golovin and Viktor Simov.
