Kutkhiny baty ("Boats of the god Kutkh") are pumice rocks formed 5-6 thousand years ago by watercourses and wind erosion. The name of the monument of nature came from the legends about the main character of Kamchatka — Kutkha, the embodiment of the Raven spirit, who, according to the legends of the Koryaks and Itelmen, created the world. Kutkhiny baty are petrified boats left by Kutha to dry.

The place is considered sacred, so the locals of Kutkhiny baty visit it only in case of urgent need. This allowed the stones to remain poorly studied for many years, and the surrounding nature to remain practically untouched.
