About the lake

Kurile Lake is the largest spawning ground for sockeye salmon and red wild salmon in the whole of Eurasia. Due to the large number of fish, hundreds of brown bears approach the lake during spawning. There are safe areas around the lake for observing them. This is one of the brightest and most popular places to watch bears in Kamchatka.
