Klyuchevskaya sopka (Klyuchevskoy) is the most famous active volcano in Kamchatka. It is the highest of the active volcanoes not only in Russia, but throughout Europe and Asia. Its absolute height is 4754 m.
For the locals, the volcano is a sacred place, inspiring fear and awe. Since 1737, there have been more than 30 eruptions of varying strength and consequences, but starting in 2019, eruptions occur annually. The last eruption was recorded in November 2023.

Climbing the hill is a difficult and dangerous route, which requires long preparation and excellent physical fitness. The difficulty level of the route is 2A, but starting from 2024, climbing Klyuchevskaya Sopka is prohibited — the Volcanoes of Kamchatka Nature Park does not issue permits!
