The Yekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts is the largest art museum in the Urals, containing in its collections unique examples of Russian painting, icon painting, as well as an extensive collection of decorative and applied arts of the XVII − XX centuries.
The museum was founded in 1936 and contained collections of the last quarter of the XIX century, which were collected within the framework of the Ural Society of Natural Science Lovers (UOLE).
Russian Russian art works of the XVII − early XX century reflect the main stages of the development of Russian art of this period. Special attention is paid to The Nevyansk icon is the work of the Old Believers icon painting school in Nevyansk of the XVIII—XX centuries. The museum features paintings by Repin, Korovin, Savrasov, Shishkin and many others.

The collection of decorative and applied art of the Urals presents stone-cutting and lapidary art of the traditional Ural craft of the XVIII − early XXI century, steel engraving, Zlatoust decorated weapons, jewelry items.
