Zagreb is the capital of Croatia, one of the oldest cities in Central Europe. And besides, it is one of the greenest cities in Europe. Many parks and a unique 19th century Botanical Garden with more than 5,000 plant species complement the incredible architecture of the Austro-Hungarian period.
It is worth a stroll through the labyrinths of the streets, visit the famous St. Mark's Square and admire the bright roof of St. Mark's Church. And then descend from the Upper Town on the famous blue Zagreb funicular, which has been operating since 1893.
