Vatnajökull (VatnajökulsþJóðgarður) is a national park that occupies more than a tenth of the island, contains the entire range of wildlife of Iceland and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List based on its unique natural characteristics. This national park, which has everything from Iceland's highest mountain to the deepest canyon and the largest glacier of the same name in Europe. Literally "Glacier of Lakes"; sometimes translated into English as glacier "Vatna" is the largest and most voluminous ice cap in Iceland. It is located in the southeast of the island.
