Vatican City is a small and unique state located in the central part of the Apennine Peninsula, 20 km from the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea and surrounded on all sides by the territory of Rome. The enclave is the residence of the Pope and the main center of the Roman Catholic Church. There are many historical monuments here, including St. Peter's Cathedral and the Sistine Chapel.
