Saint John's Co-Cathedral (St. John's Co-Cathedral, Kon-Katidral ta’ San ĠWann) is one of the most amazing cathedrals in Europe. The austere Baroque exterior hides a majestic and rich interior. The splendor of the cathedral impresses with sculptures Mattia Preti 17th century, carved from the walls, stunning frescoes and an abundance of patterns covered with patina and gold, as well as intricate drawings of 405 tombstones that line the floors.

Interior decoration St. John's Cathedral in Malta

The exterior of the cathedral is strict. It is part of the overall architecture of the fortress. Construction of the monastery church of the Knights Hospitaller of St. John (Knights of Malta) It was completed in 1578, but the interior finishing work continued for another century. In 1820, the monastery church was divided, after which the cathedral received its current name "St. John's Cathedral".
