The marble and limestone factory in Ruskeala is the ruins of a once large enterprise that produced more than 35 tons of lime per day. An overpass and six towers resembling minarets attract the gazes of tourists. For many years, it was possible to wander freely around its territory, but since 2023, construction has begun on the third stage of the Ruskeala Mountain Park, which will include a new route through the territory of the former plant.

The marble and limestone factory in Ruskeala was built in the 1820s by order of St. Petersburg State University and worked for only 6 years. In 1826 it was stopped as the territories came under the control of Vyborg province. The furnaces (according to various sources, there were 10 of them) were built from refractory silicate bricks produced in the south of Sweden in the village of HOGANAS.
The resumption of marble mining began only in the 1870s. At the same time, the plant was rebuilt, and in 1937 the plant was technically modernized. He worked until the early 90s.
