Kopavogur is the second largest municipality in Iceland with a population of 35,000. The name is literally translated from Icelandic: "Young Seal Bay", the city seal depicts the profile of the Kopavogskirkja church with a baby seal under it. The city stands on a hill. Here you will find a cluster of buildings of cultural significance, including the most recognizable landmark and emblem of the city - the Church of Koupavogur, built in a unique modern style.
