Historical background

Jovan-Jovo Ivanovich was born in Budva, October 22, 1932 in a merchant family. After receiving his primary education in Budva, he searched for himself in search of an area of interest to him. He studied at the Cetinje Gymnasium, and then went to the famous art school in Herceg Novi, which was deeply rooted in his life, as well as in his later creative work.

It is interesting to note that at the same school Ivanovich graduated from the modeling department of Professor Dragan Djurovic (Dragan Đurovic). Then he went to Belgrade, to Milo Milunović, which was a turning point for his further artistic path, as he acquired a passion for painting the sea and the surrounding world belonging to him.

After Belgrade, he studied in France and Italy and made a study trip to Czechoslovakia. He organized his first exhibition in his hometown in 1964 in the Zeta Cinema building, after which he began with more active presentations in Italy, Austria and Belgium. Since 1964, he has been a member of the ULUCG (Udruženje likovnih umjetnika Crne Gore) Association of Caregivers of Montenegro since he participated in many significant collective exhibitions of this association.

From the first exhibition to the present day, he celebrates the beauty of his ancient city, because Budva was present and remains in all its pores. He selflessly proved his love for Budva, striving to connect it with true and true artistic streams by founding a modern gallery, which he successfully managed for more than three decades. Numerous broadcasts and guest appearances were recorded both in morning programs and in news , entertainment and educational programs on the channels of the former ex-Yu, TV Montenegro and TV Budva.

Jovo Ivanovich was a source of inspiration for many outstanding artists such as Milo Milunovich, Bozhidar Yakac, Milic from Machva, Salah Taher and Milan Tukovich.

He was successfully engaged in pedagogical work at the Budva elementary School named after Stefan M. Lyubisha, where he successfully gave art education lessons.
