Hevudborgarsvaidid (Höfuðborgarsvæðið) is a region located in the south-west of Iceland, is one of the eight Icelandic regions and is known as the "Capital". The area of the region is 1062 km².

Overview

The main part of this region is the territory of the capital Reykjavik and its suburbs. In addition, the region includes cities such as Kopavogur, Hafnarfjörður, Garðabaer, Mosfellsbær and Seltjadnarnes. In the west, the region is washed by the Atlantic Ocean, in the north it adjoins Vesturland, in the east it extends to Sundurland.
