The North Caucasus is the territory of the most multinational historical and cultural region of Russia, including the northern part of the slope of the Great Caucasian Ridge, the Pre-Caucasus and the western part of the southern slope to the Psou River. Unique natural and historical sights, modern resorts and health resorts, ski and hiking trails are concentrated here.

There are 7 republics in the North Caucasus: Adygea, Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia-Alania, Ingushetia, Chechnya and Dagestan, as well as two territories: Krasnodar and Stavropol.
