Akranes Folk Museum

The Akranes Folk Museum (Byggðarsafnið) is a historical place in the city of Akranes, dating back to 1959, when the museum was founded. Ten years earlier, local pastor Jon M. Gudjonsson began collecting artifacts from the Akranes area. By the time the museum opened, he had already collected between 1,500 and 2,000 artifacts.
