Koryakskaya Sopka (Koryak Volcano) is an active volcano with a height of 3456 meters. The last strong eruption was in 1957, and in December 2008 there was an ash release, the column of which was visible for hundreds of kilometers.
The volcano is located opposite to the Avachinskaya Sopka, another active volcano, but has a more pronounced cone and a steep angle of inclination in the upper part — about 35 degrees. Due to its close location to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, it attracts climbers. It is impossible to climb to the top without special training and equipment.
